I never knew Jazmin but I know her pain
Two different people but one in the same
The needle poking in vain tingling spine mind going insane
And what’s the issue her scar tissue and my legs don’t work the same
Still Jazmin and I don’t complain because we are playing a dangerous game called life
And when God give you a chance
You do everything you can to live life to the fullest
I never knew Jazmin but I know her pain
In the hospital and the doctors are talking again
Using words you do not understand
But again and again you look at them
And simply wonder am I about to die?
I never knew Jazmin but I know her pain
For this reason we are one in the same
Surrounded by moving people walking through life with no care
While we sit and wonder about our medicine being covered by healthcare
While she struggles to comb her hair
While I ask for help to get in my chair
Life doesn’t seem fair when you’re sitting and the world is revolving around you
At the same time turning your soul Pacific blue
And even though our faces may get erased
In the memory time
Every time I wonder what Jazmin must have gone through
When the cells that built you
Don’t come out uniform all the time
When blood color starts out Hawaiian Punch
But ends up Manischewitz Concorde wine
What do you expect someone to do
When you get your whole life set for success
But couldn’t go like the other racers in the race
But this human race gives you a consolation prize
Also known as bronze just like the color of your skin
The summertime is still your friend
Even if it’s just for a little while
because then and only then do you truly get to smile
But just like the chlorine no no I mean morphine After a while it does nothing for the pain
Still The needle pokes Jazmin in vain
My mental health slowly going down the drain
Instead of times tables as kids
We had to Memorize time tables
To take these pills and medicines
Hoping that our heavenly father would let us in to his pearly white palace
In this world full of malice all me and Jazmin want to do some days is stay inside to
Hide the fact that we are probably a sore to the common eye when you look at family pictures
Easily picturing the struggle in a frame while we can barely fit into it
I don’t know Jazmin but I know her pain
By any chance Jazmin if your eyes are reading this
Know that from your words strength I gain
Your words are like weapons fine-tuning my brain
To shock the world like Ali
Because you like I will tell no lies
About the day-to-day struggles of being different
