I was thirsty for you never quite being quenched
Filled to the brim with your love overflowing in my heart
Splendid thoughts endlessly refilled by your glowing smile
Eventually every time I wanted to sip
The smell of the love that I thought we had increasingly soured
As the amount in the container dwindled
We both lost faith in what we thought we knew
So the day when the container fell on the floor and spilled your River of love flowed away from me
Trying to pour the last remaining droplets of your heart into the palms of my hands was no use
You had found a safe haven in someone else’s cup
When I think about taking the container out of the fridge the bitter taste of a dying dream remains embedded in my tongue
