Heart pumping electro vibrations
heads flying back bodies gyrating
The disc jockey controls the temple
The love language to our bodies euphoria
High heels and platform shoes send shockwaves singing through our nerves
A small price to pay in the morning
thanks to our recklessness and youth
denim shirts bell bottom pants Afros galore
who knew the moments captured on these nights
would actually live in the pages of history books
back when life is worth living
When cheap thrills reminded you of what America was supposed to feel like
The 24 hour White Castle was The community center
Home of New York’s most nocturnal animals
they say money can’t buy happiness
back in those days all you needed was a few rolls of quarters
And a good excuse to be out later than you were supposed to
Before Uber and Lyft
when you actually had to work hard for your ride home
The whistling sound of pedestrians like bird calls in the wild
The strobe light illuminated us
feeling superhuman only the bouncers were our kryptonite
oh and don’t even think about not having the perfect transition
that ended your career right on the spot
when fashion what is your identity
not pieces to a grand façade
when maraschino cherries wasn’t the only Sweet thing you could find
when all your woes could be cured with a few laughs
and on those worst nights The occasional line of nose candy
there was something special about those moments
Young, wild, and carelessly free
What I would give to be young again
